PAR light/lamp means a parabolic aluminized reflector light or lamp, which is a type of sealed beam electric lamp with reflector & lens integerated. It’s usually followed by a number indicating the diameter of the lamp in eighths of one inch. For example, PAR16 means a 2 inch lamp (or approximately 50mm) , PAR30 means 3.75 inch lamp (or 95mm), and PAR38 means 4.75 inch lamp (or 120mm). Similar designations are listed in below table.
Designation | Nominal Dia. (inch) |
Nominal Dia. (mm) |
---|---|---|
PAR64 | 8 | 200 |
PAR56 | 7 | 175 |
PAR46 | 5.75 | 145 |
PAR38 | 4.75 | 120 |
PAR36 | 4.5 | 115 |
PAR30 | 3.75 | 95 |
PAR20 | 2.5 | 65 |

PAR light usually comes with a edision-screw base, such as E26 in North America, or E27 in Europe.
PAR light/lamp is used in a wide variety of applications as commercial and residential lighting, such as shop display lights, picture lights, theater lights, stage lights...etc. It's also used as transportation illuminating lights, such as automobile headlights, aircraft landing runways, locomotive headlamps. In retailing industry, most common are PAR30/PAR38 lights. As architectual lighting or stage lighting, most common are PAR56/PAR64 lights.
PAR light/lamp can achieve a wide range of beam angles, from narrow spot, medium flood to wide flood, depending on the parabolic reflector geometry and placement of the filament, or the lens (especially Led PAR light ). The varieties of beam angles are then fit for different application needs.
You could gain many benefits to replace halogen or CFL PAR light with Led PAR light, including, but not limited to,
Though the initial cost of installing Led PAR light/lamp is high, it’s still worthwile to do it. And, eventually you could enjoy a fast ROI, Return Of Investment, due to the big savings on electricity bill & replacement cost.
Our Led PAR light/lamp has standard E26 base (for North American market), or E27 base(European market), and directly works with the mains voltage (120V AC or 240V AC). So, what we you need do is just to take off the traditonal halogen or CFL PAR lamp, and install a Led PAR lamp instead.
